About me

Welcome on my page. I am Michele Chiaramida, a well-known professor at the Conservatory «O. Respighi» of Latina, in Rome. I teach Organ, Continuo playing, and Modality.
After graduating in Arts, Organ and Harpsichord, in 1990 – 1994 and the after receiving the degree in Musicology in 2000 with a dissertation on musical pedagogy of Girolamo Chiti, I have dedicated on Continuo playing and renaissance/baroque keyboard repertoire. At the moment I am interested in studying the modal systems and the early musical pedagogy and I’m preparing a volume on it.
In 2005 I started producing historical keyboard instruments, which I build & assemble in my workshop using construction techniques and materials that can be deduced from historical sources. The clavichord is certainly the historical instrument I have dedicated a large part of my activity as a builder. Each instrument is a unicum and is entirely assembled by me.
